Dr. Shabir Ally clarifies a commonly misunderstood verse from the Quran 6:115, which states, "None can change His words." He explains that this verse is often misinterpreted by both Muslims and Christians. Christians sometimes use it to argue that if Muslims believe God revealed the Torah, Psalms, and Gospel, they should also believe these scriptures remain intact, as no one can change God's word. Dr. Shabir identifies three key misunderstandings. First, the assumption that once a scripture is revealed, it must remain unchanged, letter for letter, or it loses validity. Second, the idea that God would intervene to ensure every copy remains flawless. Third, the belief that "the word of God" must refer to written scripture, whereas in this verse, it refers to God's utterances or promises, which are unchangeable cosmic realities. He concludes that while God's word is perfect, human scribal activity can introduce imperfections, without undermining the core message of the scriptures.
