“O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it.'” (Tirmidhi) Many people think that when they have sinned, they can’t go back to Allah and aren’t worthy of being forgiven. Tawbah is seen as being exclusively for those who are closer to Him. When Allah promises reward, it’s mandatory; however, punishment is not. It can be followed by forgiveness if you genuinely repent. Hope for Allah’s mercy – Allah forgives those who truly want to be forgiven. Allah SWT says in the Qur’an: “So remember Me, I will remember you … ”[2:152], “ … ‘call upon Me, I will respond to you’ … ” [40:60], and “… Allah will not punish them, while they seek forgiveness” [8:33].
