Some Authentic Du'aas - Dr Zakir Naik EPI_12_06

Yusuf Chambers: Would you now tell the viewers some authentic duas which are good for them which they can make in this month of mercy.

Dr. Zakir: There are hundreds of duas which are authentic and if you can refer to the book ‘Fortification of a Muslim’ through the supplications from the Quran and authentic Hadith, it’s a book published which has more than a hundred duas. I think 129 to be precise. I will just mention just a couple of them from the Quran and the Hadith since you have requested that.

The most general dua which is there in the Quran in Surah Baqarah ch. no. 2 verse no. 201 is

“Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil 'akhirati hasanatan waqina 'adhaban-nar”

“O my Lord give us the good in this world and the hereafter and save us from the torment of hellfire”

This is a general dua which is general and the best. There are various other duas given in the Quran and the Dua of the Quran is the best because this is the word of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala Himself.

Allah says in Surah Ale Imran ch. no. 3 verse no. 8

“Rabbana la tuzigh quloobana baAAda ith hadaytana wahab lana min ladunka rahmatan innaka anta alwahhab”

Which means

“O Lord let not our hearts deviate after thou has guided us. And grant us mercy from thy bounty for Thou are the granter of Bounties”

There is a dua which I always make in the starting of any lecture which is asking for help from Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala which you can do when you begin any speech or when you are doing something which is very difficult is a dua which Musa (alihe salaam) made when Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala asked Musa (alihe salaam) that go and give the message to Fir’aun

So its mentioned in Surah Taha ch. no. 20 verse no. 25 to 28

“Rabbish rahli Şadri Wa Yassir Li 'Amri Wa Ahlul `Uqdatan Min Lisani Yafqahu Qawli “ Which means

“O my Lord expand my breast for me and make my task easy for me and remove the impediment which is in my speech so that they will understand me.”

And you know Musa (alihe salaam), he was a stammer and as many people are aware that even I during my childhood I was a stammerer and even now sometimes I stammer that’s the reason I read this dua in the beginning of every talk. So Musa (alihe salaam) asks Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala to remove the impediment from his speech and furthermore so that they will understand me and there is a barrier many a times between you and the person you are giving the message.

So you pray to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala may that barrier be removed. Therefore before every talk I supplicate so that the audience is if there is any barrier between the audience and myself it is removed. These were just few duas from the Quran.

There are several authentic duas and evidence from the Hadith.

There is a Sahih Hadith in Tirmidhi as well as Sahih Ibn Hibaan where the Prophet said that

“Anyone who says ‘Subhan Allahi wa bi Hamdihi’ which means ‘Glory be to Allah and Praise be to Allah’ then Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala will plant a date tree for that person in paradise”

The other Hadith which is there mentioned in Sahih Muslim (Vol. no. 4) Book of Dhikr Hadith no. 6509 where the beloved Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihe wa sallam) said that ...
